Student Clubs Gather in a Festival Atmosphere

Organized for the second time this year under the leadership of the Science Fiction Club, operating under the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Directorate of Student Development, Activities and Sports Affairs, and with the contributions of student clubs on campus, EMUCON’26 turned into a veritable club festival with its colorful events and lively atmosphere.
Held for the first time last year and returning for its second edition, the event served as a meeting point where students could showcase their creativity, share ideas, and experience the joy of producing together. Realized through the joint efforts of student clubs within the university, EMUCON’26 brought together different disciplines and areas of interest, highlighting a culture of solidarity, creativity, and participation on campus. Providing an opportunity for clubs to introduce their fields of activity and interact directly with students, the event offered participants a rich experience with its diverse activities.
In a message sent by EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, who could not attend the event, it was emphasized that the organization of EMUCON’26 for the second time through the efforts of the students is of great importance for EMU’s campus culture, noting that the event offers a significant opportunity for students to share their talents, build new friendships, and interact with different cultures. Drawing attention to the value that student clubs add to university life, Prof. Dr. Zorlu thanked all the clubs and units that contributed to the organization of the event and wished the students a day they will remember with fond memories.

Speaking at the opening of the event, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that this event is the greatest indicator of how vibrant EMU and its campus are. Underlining that curiosity is extremely important at a university, Prof. Dr. Zorlu emphasized that everything begins with "I wonder," while creativity stems from asking "why not." Stating that stands on many different subjects were set up, Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasized that students came together according to their areas of interest. Wishing the event to be a success, Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed his gratitude to those who contributed.
Following the opening speech, the event continued in the enchanting atmosphere of music with a piano recital on the main stage. After the performance by Grup Vavien, operating under the Music Club, Entrikaband took the stage and provided participants with pleasant and unforgettable moments with their energetic concert. One of the exciting moments of the event was the Tekken 8 tournament final, which was followed live via the LED screen on the main stage. The final match, watched with intense interest and enthusiasm by the participants, was the scene of competitive moments. At the end of the tournament, shopping vouchers were presented to the ranking participants by Feed Me, rewarding their success.

Different Interests, A Shared Festival
Within the scope of EMUCON 26, thematic event areas were created in alignment with the activity fields of student clubs under the headings of Entertainment, Art, Technology, Science, Public and Social Sciences, Health and Life, Sports, and Awareness. Thanks to the workshops, dance performances, musical recitals, promotional activities, and interactive events held in these areas, students had the opportunity both to discover new interests and to get closely acquainted with the work of different clubs.
Food and beverage stands and souvenir sales points set up in the event area also contributed to the festival atmosphere. Meanwhile, stage performances, competitions, and various thematic activities organized throughout the day enabled participants to actively engage in the event, strengthening the dynamic and colorful structure of EMUCON’26.
Strong Collaboration from Student Clubs
Realized with the joint contributions of student clubs, EMUCON’26 once again demonstrated the importance of collective production and cooperation in university life. Offering an environment where students can freely express themselves, showcase their talents, and meet with different perspectives, the event also highlighted the contribution of club activities to the university community.
